$1,500 of Business Development Training for BC Small Businesses

The Chamber Learning Network (CLN), owned by the BC Chamber of Commerce, is a membership driven organization that represents the interests of private training providers across BC. Through membership in CLN, Community Futures Development Corporation of Central Okanagan can now offer up to $1,500 of business development training to small business owners in the Central Okanagan.

The Micro-Business Training Pilot Program (“MBT Program”) offers eligible, small business owners funded training programs in general business skills such as bookkeeping, marketing, social media, management and other areas with the goal of improving productivity, decreasing costs and generating new revenue.

Eligible micro-business owners receive up to $1500 of funding support for courses in a variety of formats (online, classroom and/or one-on-one) offered by training institutions across the province including universities, colleges, PCTIA accredited institutions and Private Trainers.

The MBT Program runs through March 31, 2014 with the last applications being accepted December 31, 2013 dependant on funding availability. The program targets a minimum of 1,200 participants and funding support is available to eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis.

This program is available to every eligible business owner across the province, and training options are available in every region, including online or elearning options.

Bill Morrison Recognized at Provincial CFDC Conference

Community Futures Central Okanagan is pleased to announce that Bill Morrision was awarded Volunteer of the Year at the 2012 Annual Provincial Community Futures Conference recently held in Nelson BC. Bill is a valued member of the Community Futures Central Okanagan Loan Review Committee since 2005 and joined the Board of Directors in 2009. Bill plays an active leadership and advisor role at the Community Futures of Central Okanagan and represents the organization at the Economic Development Commission of Central Okanagan.

Community Futures Pilots Youth Mean Business

Community Futures Central Okanagan is pleased to announce a new youth entrepreneurship program entitled Youth Mean Business.
