Community Futures has state of the art video conferencing facilities available for rent at reasonable rates. During regular business hours (8:30am-4:30pm) rates are $100/hour/site, after hours $120/hr./site and Saturday (by request). Discounts for non-profit organizations may be arranged. How to register your business name

When you go to register your business name, you need to make sure the business name you want is available for you to use. Conducting a name search will help to make sure your name is not going to infringe on an existing incorporated company in the Province of B.C.

STEP ONE

The name search will not tell you if there is another proprietorship or partnership with the same name as what you want since proprietorship and partnership names are not protected. The search will also not cover names that have been trademarked. A separate search can be done at no charge @ cipo.ic.gc.ca, use the site listing at the left indicating trademarks database.

Step One can be processed in 3 different ways: 

1. CFDCCO can do the search for you with our computer and credit card.  We can give you helpful hints and the results can be emailed to you within 1-2 business days for a fee of $54.95.
2. You can process this yourself on-line using your own computer and your own credit card for a fee of $31.68. Results are e-mailed directly to you within 1-2 business days.   The website address is www.bcregistrynames.gov.bc.ca
3. If you are not in a hurry you can mail your name request away for $30.00 (cheque or money order). The approx. turn around time would be 12-14 days. 

Step Two – once you receive the results of your name search, you will have 56 days in which to register your business name. You will need to have an NR# that is provided from the Name Search to do the registration.  If you want to register a proprietorship or a partnership, there are two ways in which this can be done:   

1. If you do not have a credit card or do not wish to do the process yourself on-line, we can do the process for a fee of $64.95 and you would receive your business registration papers within the hour once the payment is made.  Please be advised however that due to the detailed questions of the other applications, we are not able to process applications for HST, etc.
2. Using your own credit card and your own computer, you can register on-line at www.bcregistryservices.gov.bc.ca . The fee is $40.00. You may also register for HST, PAYROLL, WCB, etc. if needed.  You can have your business registration sent to your email account within the hour.

Municipal Business Licenses require a separate registration through City Hall.

If you are planning to incorporate this business you must indicate such on your name search application. You can file the incorporation yourself on-line for $350.00, or you can hire a lawyer to process the application for you. For legal reasons, we are not able to do anything other than the name search for you.
