Business Plan Development Program
The Business Plan Development Program provides training and financial support to eligible individuals wishing to develop a comprehensive business plan. Individuals who are not eligible may purchase a seat in the program for $500.00 plus GST, based on availability. Once an application is approved, the applicant signs a contract with CFDCCO for continuing EI Benefits and agrees to attend four weeks of in-class instruction, and to develop and complete a business plan within a ten week period. Please note, you must attend the Three Day Entrepreneurial Assessment Workshop prior to applying for the Business Plan Development Program.

Course information includes:

  • Management & Business Operations

  • Market Research, Market Strategy, and Promotions

  • Development of Financial Statements and Determining Financing Requirements

  • Risk Assessment

  • Implementation Planning.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must attend an Information Session

  • You must have a referral from a Career Resource Centre*, French Cultural Centre or Career Contact Centre for Youth.

  • You must reside in the Central Okanagan and agree to operate your new business here

  • You must be eligible for Employment Insurance or have had an active claim in the past 3 years (5 years for maternity/paternity claims)

  • You must have a business idea and have experience in the field of interest

  • You agree to work full-time in your business while you receive financial assistance

  • You must meet the minimum equity contribution requirement, in cash or in kind, showing that you are investing in the start-up of your business

  • You must not start the business until you get approval

  • You may not leave a job to start the program.
